Let me add to the confusion and this may have already been said but a different way. The starting point for setting engine height is to set it so the the cavitation plate is even with and parallel to the bottom of the hull. The cavitation plate is the horizontal flat surface just above the prop. You adjust from there.<br /><br />If you have to lower your motor to get to that point do not worry about the motor interfering with the boat draining. Tilt the motor up so that it clears the driveway and jack up the front of the boat till the bow is higher than the stern. The motor should be tilted all the way up with the lock engaged as you roll down the highway.
