trim tilt motor replacement

I have to change the t/t motor on a 1998 175 ocean pro.can't raise or lower motor first tried hitting trim motor with a hammer and herd a little noise from the motor but nothing like it should be,so i guess the motor has to be changed.any special tools needed,and can this be done inwater,boats in canal in back of house and 2 feet deep at low tide. thanks for your help dave

Howdy neighbor and welcome to the forum!!<br />Explicit instructions are available in the factory manual (which I happen to have). Let me know if you want to purchase a manual or maybe I could help you out if all you need is info on the T/T motor replacement. Pretty easy on dry land, might be a hassle in the mud!

Thanks for the reply.i thought it would be a pain in the neck in the water so called the mechanic to haul it. se you like fishin for bass me to. live bait is my thing.last couple of nights you could fell the change in the temp. it won't be long now!

Takes about 1/2 hr if all goes well 1 at best. Hope you don't pay too much.
