What motor ? What trim? The connections at the buttons can be checked with a multi-meter. Those wires go to a "Switching unit" and then to the tilt/trim motor. The switching unit is normally equipped with solinoids or its electroninc.

I would suspect the switching unit has a fault. How long has this been on the boat? I would also inspect and chech ALL Connections due to simple corrosion. If you see ANY green - you have corrosion.

Need to hit the middle and top buttons at same time. That bypasses the up limit so the drive can go all the way up to the trailer position (Do not run engine when drive is up there. Will cause damage). The top button is the trailer (limit bypass) button

Look at your wiring diagram top left corner at the trim limit switch. If limit switch is not adjusted right or is not working, only the trailer up switches will work

The motor is a Mecruiser 888, this is the tilt trim unit. Excluding the green and blue wire on the tilt/trim motor. Everthing else associated with the tilt and trim was replaced with new stuff. Full disclosure the unit originally had on solenoid. I wired it for 2 solenoids 1 up 1 down.

So you replaced the original 3 button panel with two toggle switches?

Does your trim limit switch still work?

With the right type of toggle switches, it can work, however, isn't easier just to wire a single toggle switch to run both the up and down solenoids?
