Trim tabs not working

We have a 1994 Cruisers Inc express 3370 with Bennett trim tabs. There are 2 switches on the control panel for each tab. We have no movement on the tabs when switches are pressed and no sound at all. The manual says the problem is to replace a 20 amp fuse that has an orange wire leading to it. We can not identify a burned fuse on the panel. Please respond if you know of any other diagnostics to solve this issue.

Bennet gets the main power feed from a fuse under the dash ,the switch wiring only goes to the pump.
Can you post a pic

Re: Trim tabs not working

222blues,

Bt Doctor is on target. There may not be a fuse in the panel (although some boat builders do put one there). Look at the back of the switch and see if you can locate the orange wire. The orange wire supplies positive 12 volts to the system. Within about a foot there should be an inline fuse holder (#35 in the diagram below). If the fuse is OK, then check both ends of the black ground wire at the pump for good clean connections. Let me know what you find and I will be delighted to help you get the system functioning properly.

Re: Trim tabs not working

My trim tabs just quit also. I found a lot of corrosion and a junk on the commutator of the motor, is there some where, or does anyone know the specs on the motor? I'm one of those people who prefer to rebuild then replace.
Thanks
Brian

Brian,

Do you know how old the system is? I am assuming they are Bennett. . .

Brian.
Best to start a new thread of your own when you have a problem. Keeps the confusion down of trying to figure out who is answering who's question.
Besides, it's not polite to hijack someone elses thread with your problem.
