trim system compatibility ???

I have 1979 pre alpha 898 mercuriser
I picked up 1996 alpha trim system......
am I going to be able to use the new stuff on my old stuff?
the pumps have the same numbers, the new rams are a little longer and bigger- the ones with external hydrolic lines running up the outside of rams....

Nothing is close to matching!
The stuff you bought is Gen II. What you have is MC-1.
