Where should I have my trim set during cruising? Top end? Will having trim adjusted all the way down affect top end? I know to have it 100% down for hole shot & watersports but a little unclear for other speeds. Currently the boat tends to porpoise at higher speeds so I'm having trouble experimenting with different settings. Oh yea - Based on most members' recommendations, I am going to add smart tabs as soon as possible (boat is 2004 19.5' Q4 F/S with carb 4.3 - 19" alum prop) Thanks in advance!!

Re: trim settings?

Welcome fish hook.

I have the trim all the way down for hole shot initially.
Once cruising, I adjust the trim up and if you watch the speedo for a given throttle position, you'll see the speed increse as you trim up.
When the boat starts to porpoise, just trim back slightly to stop it.

When you get used to it, it becomes easy.
As soon as I start to porpoise it's literally 2 flicks down and she stops.

Good luck.
