So earlier this year my trim senders quit working. Well we have been pulled now for the winter and when I was over doing my cleaning I checked both of them. One of the wires has been clipped on each sender. My assumption is that the were clipped when the drives may have been trimmed up and the steering turned.

Anyway, would I be okay with removing the sender and stripping the wire to reconnect or am I going to have to replace the entire unit.

Drive is DM-SM 1.95

Only 2 of the 3 wires are used. Are there still 2 wires connected?

You can replace the wiring but you must be sure that it is water proof. I have gone as far as to use a drimel tool and get to the original connections to make new solder connections on the sender itself and run new wires up to the male female plug. I used marine grade sealer to fill the unit back in. Works great. Saved 150.00.

If you're in salt water, just replace the unit, wires and all. Not that big a job.
