Re: trim sender wireing

If your trim up (the middle button) works, someone has already bypassed the trim limit switch.

In the stern there should still be a connector with two blue/white wires coming out of it. the way you normally bypass the trim limit is to jumper between the p/w wire and the b/w connector. Sounds like it is kinda messed up.

Kinda missed is the correct answer! Here is how i operate my trim.

Hit the up button (raises the trim)

I hit the meddle and bottom button + addition fuse switch = lowers my trim. It takes two hands to complete the lowering.

Now you know why im so confused lol.

EDIT:

I called the dealer who hot wired it for me.

He said the TP which is on the right side, those two wires need to clip in to the two wires that are located towards the rear of my boat that are not connected to anything currently.

I will try that but i am confident that it will not fix my problem. Is there a way i can test my TP sending switch?

Yes. Grab an ohmmeter, and put the two probes on the wires from the TP. Either raise and lower the outdrive while measuring resistance, or loosen the adjusting screws on the switch and adjust it back and forth. In either case the resistance reading should change withe the position of the switch.

Re: trim sender wireing

Wow after spending a day on it and i decided to start from scratch. I check with a voltmeter to make sure my wireing is all good from the switch to the inside wireing that where sticking out. I separated the 4 wires do to the 2 correct ones for the trip sending unit.

I hot wired brand new wires to the gauge from the T.P switch located on starboard side. One for "S" and other for "ground". (the original wireing does not work)

tweak the switch and back and work and it worked! !!! Yes 2 years of missoury! :D

But wait, theirs more. This thing doesn't want to go down with-out a fight. My gauge jumps around and the showing is not correct at times. It only shows down and 1/4 height, then it jumps all the way up.

I pulled the switch apart, it has some damage wireing inside the switch by the center part. I basically need a new switch.

Where can i get a new trim sending unit anybody know? thanks
