Yup, that did it. I followed the manual procedure to purge the reservoir and refill the rams and now it works great.
And I ran it for the first time since the carb overhaul, gasket reseal and timing chain service.
Voila, she runs smoooth and leak free. I'm psyched.
The carb didn't look dirty, but I did every chamber and orifice because of it's age and since I had it out on the bench. I even went to the point of removing the main jets and replacing with the same oe type. Did that so I could make sure the fuel supply to the mains had no crud in there.
The only real failure I found was that the vacuum break was leaking. That allowed a permanent vacuum leak at all times, plus it would not be there to help pull the choke off. Having no vac break would also cause it to lose the damping of the secondary air flaps. That theoretically was what caused a bog I was getting when going to wide open throttle. So I am really looking forward to a test ride to see how she pulls.
Boat is almost ready! I still have to put some of the interior in before I take her to the lake. I'm so excited that I might go to a little puddle pond a couple of towns over for a shake down ride on Sunday. I have to work tomorrow and Saturday.
Summer's coming!
