I have a oildyne trim pump on my 1995 maxum. The trim pump is working sometimes. Even when it's not working it is clicking. I'm thinking the motor or the pump needs to be rebuilt or replaced. It sounds like it is struggling at times. Do you guys think the same. Is it worth rebuilding or what are the costs here? Thanks

have you checked the oil level, and for water in the oil?

may have a leak in the system somewhere

the clicking could be corrosion on the solenoid connections or a sticky/bad solenoid

are there issues for both up and down?

ya both up and down....pump sounds like it's struggling at times.....then won't go at all. it sounds like either the motor is binding or the pump. when it doesn't go it is making the clicking noise. then sometimes it runs fine. if it won't go i'm able to tap the pump then it usually works.

Might need new brushes in the motor.

its the motor rebuild kit 80 bucks i just got a brand new motor for 130 from westmarine.com I took mine to a electric motor repair shop the guy said even with new brushes it could still not work the shaft could be slightly bent causing it to not work in certain positions hence it gets stuck and clicks working sometimes I used to tap my old motor with a hammer to get it to work see if you can find a new motor cheap if not try the brushes but it still may not fix it I got a steal for 130 i hope it all works out for ya
