Wondering if anyone has some ideas on my little problem I have a 150 outboard and it trims up and down with the buttons on the motor, throttle, and up on the bow just fine but if I trim the motor up and let it sit for a while just out of nowhere it will start trimming down by its self until it runs out of power, its the craziest thing, I tried replacing the relay switch's and not sure where to go from there. thanks any ideas would be appreciated.

Welcome to iboats!

Start by isolating the switches (throttle, motor, and bow) one at a time. One of them is probably going bad. If you can catch them while the trim motor is running by itself, all the better.

Swap the relays and see if it trims up by itself.

Re: trim motor going down by its self

Well I narrowed it down to the switch on the cowling, but now i have a new problem. I un hooked that switch and left the motor up all night to see if it would go down again and it didnt which is a good thing but now when i try to trim up or down the motor just makes an errrr sound like the battery is dead but it is fully charged I checked all the fuses they are fine then I jumped the trim to see if it was maybe the motor but it goes up and down good when i jump it dont know if the solenoid is going out or what I have replaced the trim relays, dont know where to go from here any ideas.
Thanks
Daniel
