trim limit switch

Have a 2003 boat Mercury 5.0L MPI with Bravo 3 outdrive ( 200 hours on the motor). When I raise the outdrive in trailering position works great, however here is the problem -when I lower the outdrive it stops 3/4 of the way down. Therefore not able to totally lower the outdrive. Other than that works perfectly. As I am hitting the toggle swith on the shifter there is noise being produced from the pump. My fist attemp at the repair was to replace the lowering or bottom solenoid however did not fix the problem. Any ideas as to the repair. Thanks.

make sure pump has sufficient lube.if all is well there may be an air lock and may need purging by releasing one of the cylinder flanges.you could remove bothcyliders at the rear of the drive and see which one is causing the problem.make sure it goes down on its own without the cylinders attached too.

Thanks for your responce.Tomorrow I will try to releave the pressure in the system to see if in fact there is an air lock. Greatly appreciate you interest in this matter.

No pressure to relieve, just check the fluid level in the trim pump reservoir. And top it off up to the full line if it's low.

Took a serious look at the trim cylinder today, tried bleeding the system - did not fix the problem - was the right thing to do. Disconnected the cylinders individually and found that one cylinder rod was sticking at one location.Thanks again for all the assistance and advise, I am meeting with a friend to owns a hydraulics repair company and will try to identify what my next step is likely to be since I now have the part in my hands. Usually a corroded ram end cap. The only 'repair' I have found effective is replacement. Part number is -806191T...
