Trim Indicator

I have a 2000 model 150 hp Johnson O/B and the trim Indicator dosent work but the trim does work but dosent show on the gauge- I had the motor trimed up comeing into our marina but it was very rough and the skeg did bounce of the bottom and the next time i went out the indicator didnt work any more? any sugestions?
