Re: Trim Guage Inaccurate

I must compliment you on your persistance. Most of us gave up on the trim indicators after it broke, which usually dont take long,if the mechanism spring dont break,a wire will burn, the unit itself goes bad as u found already.Hope all else goes well for you, seems like you can tackle anything thrown at ya.That is a MAJOR asset when it comes to marine.

That is funny you say that, cuz I was just having a discussion the other day with a friend who has owned various fishing boats for quite a few years. He sells and buys stuff as much normal people change their underwear. I was telling him how I sold my snowmobiles and trailer to buy the fishing boat I finaly wanted. Just to get things to where I wanted them and bought all the accessaries(wow do anchors and rope and misc stuff add up quick!!) I was already up to around 800 bucks already. Then I found a few other little things wrong, nothing major, but they cost me some bucks too. Anyway, I was telling my friend how it was nice getting rid of the sleds for a boat cuz sleds seem to always wear out or break something and they always seem to nickel and dime. He told he hated to break the news to me but boats were not much better. I hope he is only partially right with that as I have replaced everything that looks subpar, double checked and fixed wiring, added the right circuit breakers(the guy had a 20 amp on a trolling motor designed for a 60 amp and wondered why it always cut out). I got a great deal on the boat so I am still money ahead. My next plans are to sand blast the trailer and paint, repaint the boat, redo the pinstripes, all new decals, and recarpet the floor, repaint and decal the motor cover(few rub marks from a cover). After that it should be damn near brand new, which is what I was going for. If and when I ever get it done I will have to post pics. Its gonna be super nice for a 1995.
