Looking to put a trim guage in my dash but the wood is so thick I won't have any room to put the retainer on the back. I was looking at yamaha specific trim guages and they are a lot longer. Maybe go that route?

Don't know but most all gauges work the same so it should work. To only issue might be is if Yam is different then any other

On the other side; if you have not drilled the hole yet (doesn't look like you have) and if there is room. Drill from the back side 1/2 way thru or so and stop with a larger hole saw. Then drill correct size from front and chip away under side.

For 2 inch gauge, drill 2.5 inch on back side, then drill 2 inch from front
