i have a 1979 mercruiser 260 sterndrive serial # 5198280 am i better off buying a new trim/tilt cylinder or repairing the old one with a $20 kit. the starboard side works fine but the port side doesnt seem to be holding fluid pressure to move at the same speed?

Take it apart and see if there is more damage than a repair kit can fix.If other parts are going to be needed then make your decision.
