Noticed tonight the seal on the Trim cylinder is leaking.
I just put the boat in the water last w/e!!!
Tilt/trim is operational, gut I can see fluid on top of the main Trim cylinder end cap. I'm assuming this is not a repair I can do while the boat is in the water. Does the entire assembly need to be removed from the engine to service this seal?
Any input/advice is welcome/appreciated.

Unit needs to be removed. Plan on rebuilding the entire unit while you have it out.

IMHO...getting the top and bottom pins out are the worst part of the job.

Is the same spanner wrench used for both the Trim and Tilt cylinders?
Tilt Cylinder End Cap Remover/Installer, P/N 326485, or Universal Spanner Wrench, P/N 912084

Getting ready to do this repair.
The leak on the Tilt Cylinder is worsening........engine will not tilt up all the way anymore, is this an indication that water is in the system now? I have been adding fluid as best I can.

Not necessarily.

Mine was about 25% water when I swapped out the trim motor a couple of weeks ago. Still worked

How about suggestions for paint? Is Rustoleum a good candidate? Will it stand-up to saltwater environment?

I've had a lot of success with a product called 205 hydraulic reseal for power trim seals tried it on my buddies boat his seal was leaking bad on his Yamaha it worked used it on my Johnson also worked pull out as much fluid as you can and add 205 you can find it at most auto parts stores cheaper than a rebuild good luck
