:(....... NOT an " itchy " one...........Anyone else have this condition before? I was diagnosed today after a month of pain/problems w my right middle finger. It begain to lock in place w excruciating pain a few days ago. It hurt so bad it made my stomach knot up and my knees weak!......I guess i'm not so tough  ......Doc gave a steriod injection and it feels better 5 hrs later. He said if the steroids don't work a simple minor surgery should fix it.......anyone else been there?:(

A condition where your middle finger locks into place? Seems to be a lot of people with that condition on I-24 during rush hours.

Sorry that hurts so much mommicked. It makes sense though, lots of nerve endings in the fingers. I can see how it would be excruciating. I've had a couple of things happen in the past that takes the "tough guy" right outta' ya'.

Hope that it can be handled without surgery.

Re: Trigger Finger?

wow :( i know what your going through , the same finger on my left hand , folds up at nite (like making a fist)
i just think it has some thing to do with my arthritis.then after awhile in the morning i can get it open but it has like a lock in it :(
if i bend it back down too far it will lock closed again

Re: Trigger Finger?

I got some funny looks at stoplights driveing home w the splint on my mid finger and holding it up w my elbow on the console, until they saw the splint. Ortho. Doc explained the tendons on the inside of you fingers that pull them in to grasp or make a fist slide through hoops of sinew? like line through the guides on a fishing pole. If the tendon swells or gets a bump or knot in it, it gets stuck trying to slide through the hoop and presses on the nerves that run along the w the tendon? mine is afflicted in the hand knuckle AND the middle joint of the middle finger. I was glad to hear no signs of Arthritis on the Xray in the hand yet ( my reg doc suggested that might be the problem and I have an arthritic disc in my lower back ). It feels alot better today but still kinda sore/crunchy when i bend it.

Re: Trigger Finger?

I've recognized the symptoms early enough to avoid any formal treatment, but I've had brushes with it a few times in the past.

Usually trying to spin a 1" hand tap in stainless on a 12 hole bolt pattern or something. I really need to use a bigger tap handle and get more leverage. Most any repetitive use hand stuff can do it if you work yourself that hard.

Re: Trigger Finger?

^ No, but it's on my trigger pulling hand! and kept me from Turkey hunting yet this year because it hurts to grasp or manipulate that digit ( about impossible not to do w/o a splint on the finger) and if it doesn't get better I might have to shoot it off!.......seriously It has come on over months starting w cramping in the hand and finger w/o much pain, that turned into painfull snapping/popping that came and went and finally did'nt "went" so I went to the doc. It got worse again at work today so i'm waiting for another shot, or the surgery now. It really is extremely painfull and my hand is about useless at work or home.:( Soggy-feet I think you are correct about the wrench. I believe I injured my hand almost 2 years ago using a hand driver (screwdriver w a socket) to remove a lagbolt from a tree wrapping my left hand around my right (squeezing to much) to get it to turn, my palm and insides of knuckles hurt for a week, it seemed fine until several months ago.
