Thought you'd like some pictures of our recent trip from Midland to Orillia/Barrie and back. (4-5 hour trip one way)

This includes 3 locks and a marine railway.

The boat we're in is a 19' 1977 Doral with a Merc 165 I/O

We didn't get too many pics on the way up, but took some of Big Chute Marine Railway.
We were on the blue line at the lower reach, so we walked up to watch the carriage at the upper reach.

Carriage being loaded:

On the way up we were put at the back, so we had a nice view.

With some issues we finally made it to Lake Couchiching. Spent a great night at Big Chief Island, and work up to a beautiful morning:

We went to Barrie to complete a couple last min repairs and figured its best to head home, it was very hot and humid, and the winds had picked up. Lake Simcoe can be brutal.

Heading across Simcoe to the Atherly Narrows
[

Trying to out run a rain cloud.
[
We safely made it across Simcoe and Cooch, and back into the waterway. A still working historic swing bridge is the first thing we encounter.
(excuse my finger)

and it swung just after we passed under, for this guy

In the first lock, at Couchiching

A view down the canal

Out of the speed zones, we can get a little more speed

And then back to the Big Chute, we again were the only boat going down.

We had a great trip, and plan to go farther on labour day weekend, I hope to make it to the Peterborough Lift Lock
