Well you were correct! Rotton transom, I removed motor and gimbal thursday and took it in friday to get a new transom. Worst time of year to have this happen.

Re: Transom seal leaking

i had to shut my good friend down on his project. he was putting a 40 hp yamaha on an old glastron, i asked him if it was goin to be worth it? he said oh yeah!!! i went over there he had the motor bolted up and said he hit around with a hammer. no bad noises he said. i drilled through the 1/8 in fiberglass to the wood and pushed a screwdriver through to the gel coat. just imagine how much more a big block weighs compared to an outboard! be mighty carefull and inspect fully!

tbalt,

Sorry too, the threads were somewhat intended to help you and I did try, but my transom is so bad on the bottom you can hear the hollow areas with the tap test. Its just that KB has the exact same redo as me and I got sidetracked.

Let us know what you find in there. If you have to go for a transom rebuild and DIY then I promise to send you some good information! I've been cutting and pasteing threads for weeks on the subject.
