We need a little more info on the boat to recommend anything, but putting back on whatever amount you took off will work fine.

thats a start......what are you using...? poly or epoxy?

it makes a difference what one, as the layup schedule is different.

what kind of cloth, matt and weights?

check out the hull extension in progress thread.......it covers it all....

a standard cloth on this forum is a 1708 bi ax.....very versitlie and very strong. (this is not the only cloth to use by any means......it just seems to be a cloth that is frequintly chosen by restorers)

2 -6 inch tabbs of that stuff is lots.

I am using 1708 biax with poly (waxed?) the one that allows me to keep adding without sanding.

Could I do the hole job this way or should I add matt between the layers

ok....good

but check for sure it is UNwaxed......waxed is a finishing layer and youll have to grind it all off before each layer.....

ok.....the layup schedule is allways matt next to origoinal hull or new wood. with cloth over that....the biax is universal if you lay the matt side down first...

for the transom...use matt between the layers of plywood.

see the hull extension thread....it has pics and detailes.

when you tab the transom to the hull.....first layer....just use matt at 2 or 3 inch overlaps....then the big biax at 4 ins then another layer at 6 ins......done forever !

same with the stringers.....

just a few things......read the hull extension thread......when it comes to wrapping the stringers....use the dowell method.....there is a diagram posted there......it takes a few extra minits to build.....but glassing will be a breeze and really strong.

also.....dont do three layers of 1708 at a time....just 2....the resin will get too hot curing and get brittle....1 layer matt and 2 biax is ok if you use a colder cure....1.5 ratio.....

another thing....if you lay some glass and dont get back to it for over 48 hours.....you will have to ruff and scuff the fresh glass....(grind) vaccume and re clean with aceitone

before you glass anything....each section must be rough and scuffed, vaccumed, and acetioned.....on the old poly of the hull you might want to acetone a few times to prep the old glass for the new layer.....surface preperation is key to any sucessful repair.

hope that helps....
cheers
