I have purchased a 1981 smoker craft. It needed a new transom so I am replacing the wood with a micro lam. the transom measures 20in. square to the bottom of the boat but when I put my long shaft johnson on the boat the cavitation plate is 1.75 in. below the bottom of the boat. should I cut the transom higher then the 20 in. to bring my cavitation plate closer to the bottom of the boat? Need Help. Thanks

Re: transom height on smoker craft boat

What HP motor? What prop (pitch/diam)?
At any rate, I'm no expert here by a long shot, and would read myself silly before committing to "the cut".
Try this forum link below...It's a good one. http://www.wmi.org/bassfish/bassboard/boats_motors/index.html

Do a "SEARCH TITLE FOR" cavitation plate, prop hieght, and you'll learn what you will need to be confident to procede.

------------------
Time to change my tagline
