06 Q6 S/F - Relocating humminbird transducer....mounting smart tabs. Any sugg to where to mount? Humminbird sugg to stay at least 15" from prop for minimum cavitation, but not many options here with the Q6 design with the smart tabs and tie down locations. Was looking to mount just to the starboard of center??? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Re: Transducer Mounting Location????

I mounted mine in the engine compartment. Through hull location. I have to adjust for some surface noise, but it still works O.K.

Can you post some pictures? What did you use to hold it down (i.e. water box, silicone, epoxy, etc.).

That great for in hull mount...however have to have outer mounting so do not lose water temp reading! very important to fishing!!!! We knew this...right???

Not a Q6 but I had to relocate mine for my Q4... I have not noticed any difference since I relocated it..

Re: Transducer Mounting Location????

I have a new Humminbird, and i mounted it last week on my transom, as written in the manual. Yesterday the weather was verry rough, but I took the boat out anyway. I ran into some big waves, and suddenly the signal was lost... The mounting bracket had broken completely into pieces...:( My speed at this time was 40 MpH... The bracket could not take this pressure...
I think the only solution will be the in-hull mounting...:(

Thanks for the pics... I think I'm going to try inside first.
