Hmm, good question there? I will have to look at that, but I am sure I did that right based on the way the ports run out of the tranny, but that could be reversed. What is an easy way to check, I guess get the book out right and look at the schmatics? Thanks for the check up.

Does anyone know which side does the in (cold) side hose goes into the 1988 Ford Expedition Transmission/E40D/4R100 series? Cannot find a diagram of the in and out ports to identify??

Agreed with DJ.. 200 is not a problem, that temp just shortens the service life of the tranny fluid... Get it changed, and have the system flushed, at shorter intervals..

I'd be very careful about adding anymore coolers.. Add one more and you run the risk of decreasing line pressure in the transmission.. This could lead to less apply pressures to the clutch packs, thereby increasing heat from slip, and making the pump work that much harder as well..

Increasing pan size would be a great investment..

Synthetic fluid.. Waste of money IMO.. The synth fluid might be good to obsurd operating temperatures, but are the clutches?.. nope...

bluewater19 makes a good point about the winter - don't know how long you've had those coolers installed, or how cold it gets in Oklahoma City, but overcooling can be just as hard on the trans as running higher temps.

I'd look at installing a bypass valve, or doing something else to limit that cooling in the winter.

i would just change the tranny fluid more often and the tranny filter also cheap, easy and a smart thing to do,,,

***1971 18' winner 115 1969 jonny***
