Can you tow a boat on a trailer that is wider and a little bit longer than the boat?

The trailer is longer and wider then the boat, yes you can without issue

Can tow a row boat on the 30 foot trailer with no issue

I have an outboard with mine. My worry is I won’t be able to let the motor all the way down without hitting the trailer with the motor

Move the bow stop so it sits further back if it can be done

This is the trailer I just bought. I don’t if you can see it. But the bow stop is welded and can’t be moved. I’m thinking about getting a bar/crossmember welded so I can attach a bow stop/ winch assemble closer to the back. Ideally I would like to find a cross member where I can screw into the frame. Haven’t found one yet

Might need to find another welder and have the bow stop moved/modified

Or make something to stop the hull short of the bow stop

My other bow stop assembly might fit right in front of the bow stop on my new trailer. The bow stop will now be probably 12 inches closer to the boat. Do you think it will mess up the weight distribution?the boat will be sitting closer to the back of the trailer. The boat on the trailer is a 1967 Starcraft fiberglass with a 50 hp. So the boat isn’t too heavy

I'm unable to say, load the boat and see how much tongue weight you have

Change to 5 to 6% on the tongue.
I would probably like about 80 to 100 pounds, thinking the boat weights around 1200 to 1300 loaded

My dad used the bathroom scale method with his camper trailers. Plus he always had a weight distribution hitch with sway bar.

If you need more weight on the hitch put a spare tire in the bracket for it on the front. Or even one or two 16" concrete pavers.

So did a little measuring today. The length is actually close to the same as my old trailer. So I think I’m good on length. I measure the middle bunks on my new trailer. The width is actually 3 inches shorter. Should this be a worry

If it not going to make incorrect contact then I would not worry. Measure boat and match to trailer
