Re: trailering

In addition to all the words of wisdom here, consider the boat's tongue weight and the camper frame strength (or lack thereof). I seriously doubt that a pop-up camper was designed for such a task. At least with a 5th Wheel the hitch mechanism is fairly beefy.

I don't know the brand or manufacturer, but I have seen a rack mounted to a pickup bed with an electric winch that lowers a cantilevered frame to carry a boat. Tow the trailer behind the truck and carry the boat over the top.

I think you're mixing the trailer types here, yes, in some states 5th wheelers can have a trailer behind them. I see them in MN all the time, however, its only allowed on 5th Wheelers and the whole tow rig has to be under some max length limit. You cannot tow 2 ball & hitch type trailers together.

I'm sure that's because 5th Wheelers actually attach to that huge mounting plate in the bed of the truck bolted to the frame in multiple places. A ball & hitch type setup is no way going to handle it...plus that back trailer is going to whip all over the place.

Insurance won't cover you, so when you get in an accident, you'll be paying for it all buy yourself. Don't do it.
