Thanks all for the advice...I may take to a well named tire/mechanics shop as $395 for a tandem axle seems a little pricey.

I don't know...For an hours labor per wheel plus parts, that sounds close for a boat shop, Sea Ray no less....

The problem is like tommays says you can't always see wear patterns on the races since the pits can be so small. I recall having a problem with the front bearings on my 1970 Ford Torino, I was getting the tell tall humming on turns, took the rotors off, and didn't really see any wear on the races the first time I checked. Went back with a magnifier and looked, sure enough, all little wear pits. So there you go. I'd take a real careful look at them. I'm using the spindle lube system on my current trailer, hope not to have to replace em for a long time. Of course I could take the lazy way out, spend a little more and replace the drums at the same time which come with new races installed, it is not easy to replace the races unless you have the right equipment.
