Re: Trailer weight capacity

If the trailers max capacity is 5400 lbs and your boat is over 5500lbs......I would find the right trailer and not risk destroying your boat or hurting someone if the trailer breaks going down the road. I would not get it.

Re: Trailer weight capacity

A question one might pose to the trailer manufacturer is - why is it only rated for that amount? Supposing the axles and everything else are rated for 6,000 pounds, you might just need better tires or something like that...it might be a simple fix. If you can't find out this information then I would go with a higher rated trailer for sure.

The reason it is important to get a good trailer is that boats tend to take on more weight than you think...with fuel tanks, water tanks, bilge water, new accessories, equipment etc... it adds up and safety is rather important in this situation.
