Re: Trailer tires
Anyone check out Denman Tires??
I just talked to a tire shop in my area and he swears by them. He used to sell Carlisle tires and about 5 years ago switched to Denman's. He said that they are great tires and have had very few, if any, problems. He quoted me $80 installed for 225/75/r15 Denman trailer tires. 2500lb rating each.
As far as nitrogen goes.... I think it is pure horse hockey. Nitrogen will expand or shrink less than air, that's about it. I fly a corporate jet for a living and it is used in the aircraft tire, but the tire can go from a hot landing to 40,000 feet at minus 60degrees F and I don't have to worry about it blowing up in the wing (very bad ). It would be nice if companies could make a tire that last like our airplane tires. 125 mph touchdown speed on four main tires at 23,000 lbs, and if you have seen some of my landings they aren't the greatest . Of course, a brake job is about $12,000 (yes $12,000) so I can about imagine what a tire cost. Luckily, I don't pay the bill.
