trailer mod Questions

Have a 14' lund snipe on a 15 ft or so outlaw trailer. Like to lengthen the tongue and add a folding tongue. But this trailer has a 2"x2" tongue and cant find a folding unit for it. 2x3 is smallest I've seen. Any safe way to make this work?

Any fabrication Shop can easily do that.
Cut your tongue off at the desired length, weld on plates to the 2 sides needed, make an insert, then weld it together, is how i would do it. Some people would probably just weld on the 2 plates and butt weld it without an insert, especially considering the minimal weight of it.
I tend to over build everything, so would do an insert as well. Very easy job, wouldn't take long. Hopefully you can do the rewiring yourself. Done my own, and done two more for friends.
Just call around to a few fab shops, don't overthink this.

Whatever scrap steel you find first, and cheapest. All 3 times i used hollow, but its not really important.
