I have a large Pontoon boat ,24 ft, and I really don't like the stop light going into the water. Has anyone ever mounted there lights on the back of there Pontoon boat. When the boat is on the trailer the lights would be easier to see. I hate it when I'm behind a boat trailer and there lights don't work.

Ya, that's done all the time.

Also you could buy some trailer guides with the lights attached to the top of them.

Check it out.

You can mount your lights on top of the posts and they will stay dry.

I did that to a deckboat I had.
But you have to remember to disconnect/connect the wires every time or else things rip out/do not function.

I haven't done it but I did have a friend that did, I have to admit he did get alot of kidding about his boat having brake lights when it was on the water (of course they didn't function on the water, but they were attached to his boat. personally I would mount the either on a guide post or on a board and "clamp" them to the boat when towing (just to avoid the brake, turn signal jokes from fellow boaters).

"cleat lights" attach to the stern cleats of the boat and have a long cord to plug in.

Be mindful of this:
Can you get your trailer inspected without lights that work attached to it?
Do you have any required auxiliary lights--side markers, license plate, etc?
Can you remember which lights go on which side?

Not all states have the same requirements

In Delaware, Once the trailer is inspected it doesn't have to be inspected again unless the tags run out first. But you still have to renew the tags each year. I'm not sure what I'll do but I hate to get that far down to replace the tail lights. The bolts that hold them on are rusted up. So I'll have to at least replace them or relocate .
