Trailer lights connector replacement

I`ve got the 06 Q6 and was going to do a simple replacement of my 5 pin connector, or so I thought. My trailer has the hydraulic brakes and the 5 pin connector has 10 wires on the back, whereas, the normal 5 pin connector, only has 5 wires in the back. Can I use the regular 5 pin connector, or will I have to buy the 50.00 dollar harness?

update on my connector change. I was able to change my original tahoe trailer 10 wire connector to a 5 wire connector. everything is working, except my side trailer lights with the blinkers. The trailer yellow lights used to blink with the blinkers. I`ll have to keep trying. any experiences will be very helpful. Thanks
