ask for a postponement for cousel, in nj the result of representing your self will be costly.
a lawyer can talk your case informally pre empting /explainning it ,plead it and save face in open court.
have hung out in chambers as an officer, get a lawyer.

JB in nj it happens all the time. unpaid ticket for anything, includeing not getting a dog license can get you suspended. its contempt of court not to answer a municipal summons for any code. and the process is in effect with the fall of the gavel, the letter may take 60 days to be mailed to the last "known" address. not registered. just mailed.

That happened to my brother here in OK. He was walking down the street on his way home (walked to the store) went by a house that was being raided. One of the officers ask him for his DL which was provided. Several mounths later he got stoped in a road block and thats when he was notified that his DL had been suspended for being to close to a drug bust!

Good luck PMM!
