I know this is going to be all over the place but I was wondering what your towing MPG was? With my boat and trailer clocking in at around 9K my Excursion did it in about 8mpg and my Duramax was about 11, no idea what the F150 will be until Labor day when we head to the coast.

Re: Towing MPG

grossing at just about 20k truck, 30' boat, trailer... at 75 I get 10 mpg and at 55 I get 12-13mpg... truck only gets 15 mpg at 75

pulling my 20'er I get almost the same mpg as with the empty truck

pulling the 38' fifth wheel and the jeep and grossing just over 30 k at 75 I get about 7 mpg

2007 Rainier, 5.3 liter v8, 3.73 and on demand AWD highway towing is between 12 and 14 MPG on the highway with the difference being the wind. On really windy days, with the wind I've recorded some 16mpg numbers. Towing just over 4,000 lbs. Never towed in the city.

Re: Towing MPG

I get 11 - 13 towing my 1985 Bayliner Capri 1950 cuddy with my 2008 Mercury Mountaineer AWD V8.
I am estimating the boat and trailer to be around 3,200lbs fully loaded.

My bet with your new truck is 7-8MPG.

My Hemi ram gets around 12MPG pulling 5K at 65MPH, around 8 at 75MPH

Re: Towing MPG

My truck gets ~17 (13' Whaler), ~11 (20' Eastern), or ~9 (25' Cape Dory) towing a boat. It also gets ~10 towing an empty cargo trailer that is only a couple hundred lbs more than the Whaler, so I believe the aerodynamics have a lot more to do with it than the weight.

2004 5.3L Silverado

~ 18/20 mpg towing nothing with mixed driving
~ 22/23 mpg hwy
~ 16/17 mpg 14ft Alumacraft
~ 14/15 mpg 17ft Lowe
~ 9/10 mpg 26ft travel trailer (I hit 12 once, but I must have had a tail wind)

Frontal drag has EVERYTHING to do with fuel mileage.

I get 10-11 dragging my toon.
Before we parked the RV on a permanent site would get 8 pulling the 30' Travel Trailer at about 9K weight.

My friend has the same Ecoboost F150 and a 24ft Bayliner, we went on a trip and he was around the 8-9 range doing 65MPH......

I did a max of 17 pulling my 19Ft Stingray with the 4Runner, that boat was very light and sat very Low, With the canvas on only the tip of the windshield was higher than my SUV's roof. I'm sure my new boat would be no where near!

Re: Towing MPG

'01 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE 5.3L Ext Cab Short box 4x4 with tow package towing 1999 Bayliner in my sig - about 18 mpg in OD. Couldn't even tell it was back there.

'01 and '04 GMC Sierra 1500SLE 5.3L Ext Cab Short box 4x4 with tow package pulling 2005 Four Winns - about 11-13 mpg in 3rd gear.

'07 Toyota Tundra 5.7L DC Shortbox 4x4 with tow package pulling 2005 Four Winns - about 15 mpg in OD.

'13 Toyota Tundra 5.7L DC Shortbox 4x4 with tow package pulling 2005 Four Winns - about 16 mpg in OD.

Friend's '12 Chevy Avalanche 5.3L 4x4 with tow package pulling 2005 Four Winns - about 13 mpg and that was locked into 4th as it would hunt in OD and 5th.
