Make sure that DeVille isn't front wheel drive. I can't remember which full size older Caddy's were front wheel drive, but they shared the same chassis as the Olds Toronado. I personally would get a truck, more ground clearance, less things to get wet when you back too far into the water. Either way, good luck.....

DeVilles were RWD, El Dorados were FWD.

As a weldor with 20+ years in marine and general fabrication: Certain rear wheel full size caddies will NOT accept ANY hitch in the rear...I don't remember which models, but you want to look underneith and SEE a chassie attached to the bumper. Air shocks will work great long as your tung load is less than 300 lbs.

Great info thanks guys

I went on etrailer and entered the info about the car and two possible hitches came up, so I assume that this is not one of the models that doesnt accept a hitch.

Thanks again everyone!!!

I think this will be my towing vehicle!

James

I used to pull a boat and a small camp trailer with a 79 olds 98. Those cars are meant to ride really well. It may be soft in the rear end. In other words the trailer might squat it pretty good. I put some inexpensive overload springs on it and it solved that.
