dont even know if im posting in the right place thanks all im new to the forum and really new to boating only rode a boat once lol:redface: any how i just got a 1994 galaxie 1950v hull is in good shape floor is rotted stringers are bad and my 4.3 has a cracked block motor fires right up looks like my exhaust manifolds may have cracks aswell. so folks long story short im restoring this craft for sentimental reasons and cost is definantly an issue. so for the block i read in other postings that i may be able to use a block with the same casting numbers or 4.3l chevy long or short block of same year? im planing on using block only. or is this not the way to go about things? please any help is greatly appreceiated thanks in advance

If it is cracked, it was probably from freezing. You might want to check out the other components and make sure water didn't freeze and cause more damage. You might find more problems than just the block. You can swap it out with another block. Just make sure you gear all the components for marine use.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.....This is the Perfect time to up grade to something besides yer OMC....

A Merc or some Volvos will use the same transom keyhole,...

You can sell off the salvageable pieces of yer OMC to others tryin' to keep 'em runnin', to generate funds for yer restoration...
