Does anyone know the torque specifications for the referenced gasket? The marina I purchased from said he just "tightens it firm", but I don't trust that to be accurate.

Thanks for your help.

John Wood

Good for you John!! Jeez! Some mechanics sure cut corners. There is a torgue spec for good reason. I take it, you are talking about the exaust manifold cover? It is 180 Inch-Pounds. there is also a torque sequence. Now, my scanner is down...HTH do i get this info to you? hmm... Ohwell, you might try your local library.I've had great results finding the manuals there for all the ones i don't own. But do try to locate one,and tighten in sequence.
Does your plate have 24bolts in it?
Here is the manual you need to buy. Well worth the greenage,if you intend to keep that Merc screamer for a long time.... http://www.boatdealers.com/mall/index.cgi?store_id=252&prod_id=1963&cart_id=790212693&current_category=mercury%20manual
