Now I need some help and have no idea where to go so please help
I'm refinishing some teak and other wood on one of my carver Santa Cruz
I really like the finishes of liquid glass epoxy
But they say it's no good outside what els can I use to get that type of finish
That will survive a marine environment and where might I find treads on something like this

Couldn't agree more ^^^ :) It's a 2 part video on this method. Been finishing teak like this for a while and it works great. Holds up much longer than most finishes (and IMO looks the best);)

Hope this helps!

Re: Topsides finish

What was used in the video was west system 105 resin and their 207 "special" clear hardener. This is important as a typical resin/hardener will not work, it needs to be a "clear". There are other brands avail but I prefer west system. If you're curious, here is a link on a test that was done using various brands..

You can find West system and other epoxies through iboat store.

Hope this helps!

Any good quality epoxy should work. Seeing as you live in Tennessee, you could order from www.uscomposites.com they have quality products @ good prices. their 635 Medium should work great for your purposes. $38.00 for 1/2 gallon.

Providing it's designated for "clear coating".. If it's not, it will darken the color of the wood. Typically it's the hardener, not necessarily the resin that determines if it's a "clear". Not to push any particular brand, but the reason I prefer west system is because it has some UV absorbers built into the hardener; most others don't. And it cures water clear which for me is important if it's ever used on light colored woods..
