I read a thread where someone used topside paint, interlux briteside, to paint their entire boat. Can you use topside paint below the waterline if you trailer your boat every day?

Imron is a two part polyurethane paint. It may be suitable for below the waterline usage, but I recommend one check it out.

If you trailer the boat every day, almost any topside paint will last.

Interlux does not recommend their Topside paint below the waterline if the boat is to be in the water for more than 72 hours, at a time.

For a trailered boat, it's OK if the above is followed.

Easypoxy one part polyurethane by Pettit is rated for 3 days in the water also. They claim it's fine for a trailered boat. It's what I'm going to use.

I'm using VC performance epoxy just in case I want to leave it in for a week or so during vacation. I think the price is similar to top paint.

Re: Topside Paint Below The Waterline?

I painted my transom first (black brightside) It turned out really nice. I know the transom doesnt come in contact with the trailer and the transom does not get abused like the bottom of the boat. I called Interlux and asked about durability of the brightside on a trailered boat. They said as long as you follow directions on can the durability and gloss will hold up very nicely. I plan on painting my boat in my driveway from the rubrail down with brightside. It is a very forgiving paint
