As a follow up to the Stupid Teen thread etc. I thought we could try something that might be fun. Could be a dud too . . . we'll see.

I have a 17 year old who graduates from high-school this year. I have been saving a few life lessons that I want to tell him, either at graduation or his 18th birthday, not sure yet. There is such a wealth of knowledge and a variety of experiences and ages here that I thought a top 10 list from all of you iboaters would be really awesome. So here are the rules:

Post the most important lesson/message that you would tell a young adult. Let's try and keep them short and to the point to match the recipient's tolerance for this kind of stuff
You can make multiple suggestions. I will be the judge and jury (my thread and my kid
) and I will take those that I feel are worthy and post them in bold as a growing list until we get to 10. Depending on the activity at that time, we might continue. It would be possible then that one that made the list could get bumped by one of better quality. Let's try and keep them applicable to both a son and a daughter. If that doesn't work we'll split them into a male and female version.

Hopefully, what we will end up with is an iboaters top 10 list of the most important things for young adults to take with them on their new life journey.
