A timing light,a jumper or jump box.
And someway to ground the leads.
I'll get the directions and post them soon.

Don't forget a rubber band, jumper wire, or clamp on the neutral safety switch so you can crank it WOT :)

That's what the 3rd pic is for.
What's the rubber for?

Re: Tools for Static timing.

I guess we all may do it a little different. I made up a single strand wire with alligator clips on both ends. I clamp it on both ends of the safety switch, then throw the controls into wot. Then I take the remote start and connect it to the solenoid, or have the kid crank it over for me, (usually the kid as she likes to help). When the kid cranks it for me it requires the jumper on the safety switch, to be able to put it into WOT.
I used to try to wrap a rubber band around the switch to depress the button. It is a PITA but can be done in a pinch.

So it sounds to me like your saying I don't need to put a jumper on the switch if I connect the remote to solenoid?
I never thought about trying it without, it just seemed like the logical thing to do at the time.

Yes, just use a remote starter switch connected directly to the starter solenoid. This is what I use for static timing. Just another variation on what Jerry uses.

Remote starter switch. I usually do this by myself, so the remote switch makes it very easy.

Spark plug holder. Took a metal bar, bolted a cheap metal wood glue clamp to a metal bar. Attached a ground cable with an alligator clip to attach to any convenient ground. Drilled and tapped some holes. Makes it very easy to see the spark and verify all plugs are firing the same. Easy to spot a bad plug, or ignition system problem.

Use a 14MM 1.25 tap to make the threaded spark plug holes in the 3/16" thick metal holder.

Hook up any timing light and you're all set!

Re: Tools for Static timing.

Nice setup! Good to see a fellow Force owner doing it right ;)

I had always just used my jumper wire on the safety interlock switch thinking the circuit needed to be made to be able to WOT and crank the motor. I never made the connection in my thinking that by connecting directly to the solenoid accomplishes the same thing. Cool!! One less step for me to try to remember lol.
However, if you don't have a remote starter you can do it like I said, with a jumper wire and an assistant at the key.
