TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE

O.K. GUYS... I'M REALLY GREEN AT THIS, BUT IN THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS A FEW "GOOD FRIENDS" HAVE BLOWN THE BUBBLE FOR ME.<br />AFTER MANY MONTHS OF SEARCHING OUT THERE, I FOUND WHAT I THOUGHT IT WAS A PRETTY GOOD DEAL, EXCEPT NOW I FIND OUT THAT "TWIN 1999 175HP EVINRUDE FICHT ENGINES" WITH VERY LOW HOURS, AND A CLEAN RECORD MAY NOT BE A BARGAIN AFTER ALL. THIS IS A 1999 BOAT IN GREAT CONDITION,LOADED, WELL KEPT, AND THE PRICE IS WELL UNDER BOOK VALUE. BUT EVERYONE HAS SCARED THE HECK OUT OF ME BECAUSE OF THE ENGINES. WHAT ARE THE CHANCES?

Ocordova.....The early Ficht's did have some problems, but that is not to say that is a guarantee that you will have a problem. I have a 2000 150hp Ficht, and it is the best motor I have ever owned in my life. I have never had a single problem with it and I have about 700hrs. on it. I have done nothing but put gas and oil in it, change the plugs every 75hrs. and winterize it properly. The only thing is you have to index the plugs when you replace them, but that is no big deal. Don't let people freak you out about these motors, alot of people over react about them,or just won't except anything new. Do a search on this site for 99 Evinrude Ficht and you find a post from last year that is pretty good at explaining the Ficht system and the early problems it had. I have twin 1999 Johnson 200's and I wish they were Ficht's instead of carbs. Good Luck.

If all the upgrades were performed on the engines they are outstanding and run perfect. I have 1999 twin 150's with over 1000hrs and just love them. I use Amzoil 2 stroke oil and take care of them and they take care of me. I had to rebuild the fuel lift pump in 1 motor but only a $30 job. I get about 2.2 miles/gal. at cruise of about 30mph. Hope this helps.

Give the serial numbers to a E/J dealer and he can run them for you. That will give you a history on the updates (if they have or have not been done) and what, if anything, has been warrantied.<br /><br />Great motors!
