Hello, I am a beginner at outboards and I noticed that when I go to flush my motor after being out on the water it doesn't pee. This is not a problem on the water only when I flush it regardless of if I use muffs or submerge it into a trash can of water. Is this something to be concerned about? any thoughts? 15 hp Tohatsu.e

Presuming that you have the engine running while flushing, it is a problem. When you flush it on the muffs you should make sure that there is enough water pressure on the muffs to make the water get into the pump housing so the pump can push the water up. When you flush with a barrel ,the water level in the barrel should be above the water pump in the lower unit. Not peeing means no water going through the engine. this can destroy the engine. And it certainly does not do any flushing where it counts.

When I got my first Tohatsu I found out that the water has to be a couple of inches higher in the barrel than my previous motor. If running on muffs I turn the water on high enough that it sprays around the cups and the pump will prime and circulate like normal.
