Does anyone know of any gotchas or common trouble areas for the Tohatsu MFS9.8B (bought new in 2019) motors? It's listed for sale locally as-is. The current owner bought a boat and this motor came with it, he didn't even try to start it and has no idea if it runs or not, he just set this one aside and bought a new one. It's in a very wealthy area so that story is believable. He's asking $500, I'm thinking of it just as a toy and debating if it's worth the time to go look closer at in person. It has obviously lived in salt all of its short life. The prop and lower unit look like low hours, but the corrosion under the hood is more than I would expect, unless this motor is known to have poor corrosion resistance in salt?
