I am working on a Tohatsu M40C outboard with damaged flywheel magnets. The existing flywheel is stamped fp5506. As best as I can determine that should be part number 361060910. I located a used one online that is purported to be a 36106910, but it will not slip over the existing coils. The inside measurement between the magnets is .132 inches smaller than the one I took off.

I am thinking of some options:

1. Send it back and keep looking. (Seller has agreed to take it back)

2. Attempting to use it by elongating the holes in the coils so that they can be moved inward as it appears that each side would only need to move in approximately 1/16 th of an inch.

3. Continue to use the damaged flywheel as it runs as is.

I would love to use the one that I bought because it was reasonably priced and in excellent shape. The motor is old and not in great shape and will be replaced next year.

If the damaged flywheel is working right on and the motor is not missing, hesitating keep using it...

Happy Boating
