I'm looking to buy a 9hp outboard, a local fellow has a 1996 Tohatsu that looks almost brand new. He's askig $1,000... What do you think, is it worth it?and how does this motor compare to its competitors?
That's high for a 9.8. Somewhere in the 7 to 8 range would be more realistic. Don't worry about parts or service availability as Tohatsu is much more common than say Suzuki or Honda.
