The throttle position senser should not move around and you cannot eliminate it. See if they will give you a new one to try, you will have to go through the reset on the new one before you take off. If you are over reving the light will come on and it will beep.

Re: tohatsu 50 tldi mystery

Hi
I wrote out the proceedure for resettting the TPS in another post, did you see that? If not I can write it out again and title it so you can find it. It is very handy to be able to do this with the TLDI system.
If the linkage is loose this could mess up the readings to the ECU because the TPS sensor is actually two systems, one reads the throttle buterfly position, and the other the advancer arm position. The advancer arm position is also subject to wear.
Once everything is tight you should be able to reset the ECU.
