I looked on my prop, it is stamped 13. Is that a common prop? It is winter here in Iowa and my motor is already winterized, so I wont be trying any new props until spring. Where does 13 place on the spectrum of props?

Should be in the manual you downloaded. 13 = 10.3 diameter X 12.7 pitch. My original stock prop was 11 = 10.8 x 11.3. After trying a 12 pitch Hustler, went back to 11, for my 14' starcraft alum.

.........so the 11 had more top end or bottom end power? Will the 12 or the 14 give me more top end speed? You have to understand that my 14' is probably much lighter than your starcraft. Mine is a 1955 Arkansas traveler, which nobody has probably heard of. When the motor is off I can lift the back of the boat. Even with the motor on, if I try really hard, I can scoot it to the correct posision on my trailer. And I only weigh 140 lbs. so as you can tell my boat is really light, I just like to go fast. Since my boat is so old, there is no horsepower limit or persons limit, it is all up to the owner.

On my boat the 11 has slightly less topend than the 12. With the 11, the real noticable difference was out of the hole, especially with 3 people in the boat. I river and small lake fish with this boat. A lot of stop and go. The bottom end is more important to me than an extra 2 mph on topend. Also on small boats like this, the load changes drasticly with people/gear, that I find it much better to be slightly under proped. ie, you always can back off the throttle if it revs too high with a light load.

Here is some pics of the 14', for you to compare to, 14' starcraft BTW, 40hp is max on the tag, for this boat. From your description, yours does sound lighter. It takes 3 people to carry our boat, and that is with motor removed.

If you do a search, you will find allot of info on sellecting a prop for your boat. You will need to test your current prop first, by getting your WOT rpms. I would guess you don't have a tach, so that might be something else to call Elvin for.

While props of different make, cannot be directly compared, here are the old style Hustler specs: 10 7/8 dia x 11 pitch, 10 3/4 dia x 12 pitch.
