I have a 2016 MFS20D outboard which has been used in salt water. I pulled it from my catamaran and brought it home to do the water impeller and gear oil. The four bolts holding the lower unit were badly frozen - I was able to remove two and the other two broke. I used heat, PB blaster and welded nuts on to no avail. Now a few hours of drilling and I'm starting to get into the threaded aluminum housing but still cant extract the bolt carcas. I have found a replacement drive shaft housing but am wondering how involved replacement will be. There are rubber mounts attached to this housing which go to the transom clamp. It looks like the engine is mounted to this housing and could be lifted off. I plan on using a helicoil if the threads get damaged but plan b ($490 plan) is to replace the entire housing. Just wondering if anyone has done this procedure and how much fun they had doing it.
