Thanks for all the great suggestions!Im sorry if I seemed impatient or pushy,I recently was laid off temporally (Commercial carpenter) , Been on the road for 6 months out of the past year from family, friends and RECREATION!doin an average of 65-70 hrs a weekend everybody was tellin me I needed to enjoy myself and do some fishin and camping on the lake, and I was really looking forward to the R&R .And to boot,I went on the wagon not long ago LOL! But I wont give up! All I needed was some incouragment and a general sense of direction to head to with this.THANKS FELLAS!I got a 1956 Harley-Davidson that I know like the back of my hand for the past 20 yrs and fixed H-3 Helicoptors in the Navy, But I let this motor get my goat, HUM...... Anyway ,the motor ,I will get on these suggestions at first light and hollor the results next saturday evening. The fuel tank vent,I have 4 different tanks with fresh gas and tried all of them when thi happens. Will check The compression , then Run it till it wont start and check the spark and try the wd-40.The overheating suggestion,I think its ok, but JBs got me thinking about the water. The prievios owner said that they just had the water pump replaced and the motor dosnt seem unessasaraly hot or showing any sighns of binding up when cranking. But I didnt see water shooting strait out in a stream, but rather in a spray, and it was either white exaust or maybey steam, dunno, will look at that closer. Also , the plugs look good, a nice light brown color on them. The mag advance,If I understand What Im seeing, it has a linkage bar that rotates the mag counter clockwise,so would that be a manual advace or would there be an auto advace set ip inside?and also about the magnets, when I cheked out the coil, the magnets "sucked the coil"back into place. If they were to go bad, would they always stay bad or could they do a "flip flop"? But I will try the back and forth trick with the throttle. The coil.Im not sure how to tell if its marine or automotive.I found the box it came in in the boat.It says on the box its made by BOMBARDIER of Atlanta and it also says OEM,but I guess that go for a car also. That just leaves the condenser and fuel pump wich Ill sifer out hopefully by days end.Again,Thank you guys,Very much.Hope I havent been to long winded. And an extra thanks to you,JB,for geting me strait on on how to set up correctly on posting these notices last night and not giving up on me.Im a greenhorn on the internet. You guys would laugh if you could see me type.Im geting better,I can use TWO fingers now,and this just took me an hour to type in.Wish they had a spell check though. Re: to-JB, Dunk and Dan from Bluebelin

Bluebelbin, I had to reply to0 the personal side of your post. I have been there, done that, and even the carrer you chose has it'sw simularities. (I was a drywall hangin monster in my youth).
I was also a squid, had my share of bikes, had a drinkin problem, and have my share of scars from all three.
I just wanted you to know that ir DOES get easier and better. When the fruits of your efforts start to sink-in, and the family looks at you with new respect and love, it makes the price you are paying now seem weak.
And with me, it was also a project boat that I bought cheap, restored, enjoyed, and then sold for something better, that kept me home at night (when the fish weren't biting), tooling on that old boat.
At times, it seemed I would never get her back on the water. And the weeks I had a plan of attack, but no money for parts or fittings , were way too many to count! But
just as with all the rest of it, there was "the prize",a 60dollar black market cuban cigar at the end of the road.
And if you ever get down Florida way, the building boom is in full swing. The pay scale bites, but it's more steady employment.
And even if you get down here on vacation, stop by Lehigh Acres. The bass fishin is fantastic, and I can show you some great bike routes and groups.
Hang in there, and you wont be sorry.
